charities and social ventures
We are part of a tribe that wants to give something back – our people, and our clients, are passionate about having a positive impact on the world around us.
Our Charities and Social Ventures (CSV) team leads our work helping charities and social ventures achieve their missions, both in the UK and around the world. We have a small core team of CSV specialists, with expertise in charity regulation, governance and new models for social innovation. We provide our charity and social venture clients with an exceptional, multidisciplinary service, by working with a wider group of specialists from our other practice areas, all of whom work regularly with CSV clients as well as more commercial organisations.
We advise charities and social ventures through the full lifecycle. We start up new charities and social ventures, getting them up and running with legal structures, contracts, policies and good governance. We work with established charities and social ventures, on operations, fundraising, contracts, data, policies, people, property and governance. Where necessary, we help our clients to restructure or wind-up in an orderly fashion, to ensure their assets are fully available for their social purposes.
Our specialist areas include technology, scientific research, healthcare, conservation, arts and education charities. We also work at the cutting edge of digital and innovative projects and collaborations in the charity sector. Typically, you could be supporting senior academics, who are trustees or executives, in their management decisions. Or advising charities whose main value is their intellectual property.
We’re effectively an in-house resource for many of our charity and social ventures clients, on hand to steer them safely through complex and challenging matters, make introductions to others in our network, and help them achieve their mission. Often this is global, so you will be working with our international network, either to bring new ideas and organisations in to the UK, or to set up projects overseas.
We stand out through our innovative approach, in-depth knowledge of the Charity Commission and the exceptional expertise across our firm that we offer to charities and social ventures. Clients come to us and stay with us because of our efficient and enthusiastic integrated service, with straight-talking, focused and commercially sound advice provided quickly and decisively. Our people stay with us because we are friendly, supportive and focused on improving the world around us.
